bishops solicitors"Everything has to begin somewhere and the story of the firm which was to become one of the major component parts of Bishop & Robertson Chalmers began in the somewhat improbably location of Campsie when about the middle of the nineteenth century (the precise date is unknown) a young lawyer called James Bishop commenced legal practice in his own account."
(FROM "The Story of Bishop & Robertson Chalmers")

Bishops was established around the mid nineteenth century by James Bishop and James Craik Bishop who traded as J. & J.C. Bishop and developed a thriving business at the heart of the emergent coal, iron and steel industries which were to be the life blood of the firm for 100 years.

Around 1900, after Mr James Bishop's death, the firm appointed Mr James Milne Boyd to partner and the firm name became J. & J.C. Bishop & Milne Boyd.

Since the 1900's the firm has evolved and gone through many mergers and additions to the partnership, growing both in size and expertise. It is clear to see that our roots are firmly planted in the nineteenth century - but our objectives, firm ethos and approach today focus on how we can help you to achieve both your personal and business goals in the future.
