Bishops has an experienced personal injury team in Scotland. It is serviced by 12 Lawyers based at our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. We have extensive experience of dealing with cases in the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts in both Defender and Pursuer / personal injury work.

In our Defender work, we act for some of the UK's largest insurers, as well as a number of Lloyd syndicate members, Underwriters and Loss Adjusters. In our Pursuer work, we act for a number of large National Trade Unions as well as a number of legal expenses insurers. We are one of the few large litigation practices in Scotland who continue to act for large clients in both Defender and Pursuer work. We believe that, in doing so, we are able to consider each case from both perspectives and accordingly achieve quick and effective resolutions. We specialise in cases involving employer and public liability, road traffic, professional negligence and product liability. In recent years, we have acted in a number of high-profile cases, including a recent award to nineteen claimants arising out of the Stafford rail crash in March 1996, such awards totalling £2.8 million.

Our Service

Given the cost of litigation, we appreciate the need to undertake a full investigation of all facts of the case at the earliest possible opportunity to enable us to return to the client with a detailed report on the merits of the case. We use the latest in computer technology and case management systems to ensure that all our cases are dealt with in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. We are able to electronically report to our clients on a regular basis with an update on the status of each case. We are also preparing our computer system and website to allow our clients to access their files and financial information through their own computer systems.
